"In addition to you guys being superb musicians, I think you've invented a new genre. Jam band, cover band, original music band, veteran rocker band, musician's musician band, etc., etc. It's all there and more than the sum of it's parts. Maybe it's a new style of music that needs a name??"

Chuck Byram - Fairfield, CA

"It's been a long time since I've bought a CD since my housemate has so many I think we have to add an addition to our house. Wow! did I ever make the right choice here!! You can thank XM Radio because if it weren't for their Deep Tracks show, I'd have never known you existed. Popped it in the car the day it arrived a week ago and haven't taken it out since (or listened to anything else). You guys do great justice to the originals, but add just the right GCG jam to make them your own. Congratulations!!!" Jane from CDbaby

Great Caesar's Ghost - "ONE MORE RIDE". This double live CD shows one of the hottest bands in the New York area playing songs you know and love.  Red hot versions of "Mountain Jam"and"Whipping Post" show that the band knows their Allmans, while their Dead influence shows through on covers of "China Cat Sunflower/I Know You Rider" and "Franklin's Tower."  They also dig down for excellent versions of deep cuts by the Rolling Stones --"Can't You Hear Me Knocking" and (the original)  "Wait Until Tomorrow."  Good stuff!

Smith, the former leader of the Saturday Night Live band, joins Great Caesar's Ghost for this powerful CD, turning the band into a four-guitar monster!  The band draws equally from their two biggest influences, the Allman Brothers Band and the Grateful Dead, with great versions of "Dreams" and"Whipping Post" by the former, and "Mr. Charlie" and "Turn On Your Lovelight" by the latter.  Sure to please!

     CD REVIEW

Great Caesar's Ghost  ONE MORE RIDE *****1/2 (out of six).  New York, 7 man, southern/jam band with 3 guitarists and two drummers. What these musicians, all of them professionals and partially active for 20 years, make out of these songs, glows with intricate knowledge of playing and an enthusiasm today sometimes missed. Borderline pure magic. This is the Southern/Jam band CD of the year 2006, if not of the decade, this live-concert  is hard to match up to.

  • BUTCH TRUCKS VISITS GCG !Drummer and founding member of The Allman Brothers Band, Butch Trucks, stopped by the Great Caesar's Ghost studios and rehearsal space. Butch listened to some cuts off of the new CD, "One More Ride", and liked what he heard. "You guys smoke", he said, and he encouraged band leader Larry Schmid to start writing more for the next CD. GCG is made up of some very experienced players, but everybody was incredibly jazzed about Butch being there.  A really sweet and smart guy who happens to be a music legend. Thanks for stopping by, Butch!____________________________________________
